Santa Fe, New Mexico

We arrived in downtown Santa Fe, the capital of New Mexico early Tuesday evening. The downtown area is quaint, filled with adobe-like style buildings which have been transformed into an artist colony. A great setting for artists to showcase their work. Sculpture gardens fill the area with both whimsical and lifelike interpretations. The area attracted artists such as Georgia O’Keefe in the early 20th century and remains a hub. Of course, the square across the road is filled with the typical high-end gift shops and jewelry stores. St. Francis of Assisi Basilica rests in the middle of the square, with church bells ringing every half hour. The cathedrals photogenic architecture makes it a striking focal point. We are in for another long drive, hopefully we will reach Texas in time for a chili cook off and to catch some fireworks!
